YOU AINT GOTTA GO BUT YOU GOT TO GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE

I have worked as an entertainment entrance liaison or it’s more familiar term, a bouncer. I have worked at upscale nightclubs and hole-in-the-wall joints and a few things I have found to be consistent. There is always going to be people, who have to be asked to go or forced to go. person usually feels they can drop a name associated with the establishment or just plain has had too much to drink. Democratic—- dare I say, former Democratic Presidential nominee, Hillary “Do You Know Who I Am?” Clinton. It’s the type of person, I’d politely say something to once or twice, hoping that they get the idea by noticing the bar-backs wiping off tables or the waitresses counting their tips or the fact that the light is on and large black men—I mean bouncers are saying, “Good night, thanks for coming.” You know, the obvious signs. As in the case of this Democratic Primary, where when your opponents has more votes than you in certain categories. Early on, Mrs. Clinton lead in Superdelegates, who are the basis of how she was going to win the party’s nomination. It has in recent days, been overtaken by Senator Obama, who also leads her in the popular vote and pledged delegates. The only category Mrs. Clinton actually leads in is Presidential Nominees with a uterus and the ability to give birth. I say this to express my fondest wishes to Mrs. Clinton is her future endeavors, because this is race is over. Lying to people in upcoming state primaries by saying, “things are about to turn” and spending Chelsea’s inheritance on this exercise in futility make her look like the guy at the bar, who has been drinking all night and feels because of that fact he is entitled to stay as long as he desires, despite establishment employees being ready to go home. That drunkard is looking to pick a fight with the first person, that speaks to them, so they can interpret it as an attack on their person and lash out. Long story short, Hilary has been drinking shots of Johnnie Walker Blue all night, Super Tuesday was last call for alcohol, Pennsylvania was the lights being turned on and a friendly ‘good night’. North Carolina was the polite “ma am, we’re closing” as the chairs are placed on tables. Oregon is going to be, when the bouncers say, “Ma am, you’ve got to go somewhere other than here or we will forcibly take you out”. Hillary please leave the nightclub before the goons have to help you leave.

FOUR RACE CARDS AND A PASTOR

"You know he's black".

Today the 2008, Indiana and North Carolina primaries will be decided between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and one thing has been as sure as death and taxes. Race has played a part in this campaign and been used like slim-jim on a car sitting alone on the 4th floor of parking garage. Early on here at the Bastille, we felt that we would be lucky to have Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama as a presidential nominee, but with time Hillary bared her "racial" claws and dug deep into Obama, like a cat trapped in a corner. As has the mainstream media and I’m not just talking about FOX News.

Throughout Hillary’s campaign, the issue of race has floated just under the surface of a frozen sea of prejudice, like a seal or penguin looking for a break in the ice. Sadly, that break has never been found and Obama has been steadily bumping his head into the frozen blocks of ice called, “Reverend Wright”, “elect-ability and “he can’t pull white voters”. Never in my life would I believe that a political candidate would be so beholden to words by his pastor. But then again Obama is the candidate -- forgive me THE BLACK CANDIDATE, which is the big difference. Barack Obama was an afterthought to candidates John McCain and Hillary Clinton months ago. He was such a novelty on the political landscape, that Hillary Clinton felt counting the states of Florida and Michigan were not worth her time. She even signed a paper to officially discount those votes. After Obama had a run of winning 11 straight states in primaries she felt it was important that “these states and their voters be counted”, but it was too late (the DNC’s words, not mine... so far). At this point, the Republican party and it’s presumptive candidate, John McCain started floating the “elitist” title into the public ear and onto Obama’s flagless lapels. I think McCain chose that route because calling him a ni***r outright might be misconstrued by him as well as Hillary, who wields the word “elitist” like a Jedi and his light saber.

Obama, a former child user of foodstamps, is the biracial son born to a single white woman from Kansas and a Nigerian man, whom Barack has only has met once in his life. Hillary, a Wesleyan graduate, and her husband have made 109 million dollars over the past ten years. John McCain is married to a beer heiress and owns eight homes, but the black guy, from the broken home, is the “elitist” looking down on people. I don’t want to call them racist, but I think the utter shock of trailing a black man in this presidential race had them truly aghast and ready to do anything to keep this ‘perfect negro’ from their precious presidency. Media pundits have been stating that Bill Clinton has hit his stride by campaigning for votes in small, rural towns in North Carolina (see “all-white” & "redneck").

Barack Obama has run such clean and strong campaign that his opponents have had to resort to "kitchen sink" tatics (which is code for 'whatever it takes') and in this case, it means reminds the voters in clandentstine ways that Barack Obama is still black. That is done by communicating to rural voters, who have little contact with people of color, set him off from her by calling him "elitist" and drinking a beer. This Sunday, Obama appeared on Meet The Press with Tim Russert, who questioned him on the Reverend Wright subject for the first fifteen minutes, but all week Russert asked people on MSNBC, “when is the Wright situation going to go away?” I find it ironic that Russert continued the discussion instead of asking Mr. Obama about his policies. I wouldn’t be so upset about the “Reverend Wright” situation, if the pundits would ask Hillary Clinton about her former pastor, Rev. William Procanick, who was sentenced to three years in prison on Friday, for inappropriately touching a 7 year old child. Or how about asking John McCain to explain his steady welcoming the endorsement of the righteous, Rev. John Hagee, who said that Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans because they were hosting a gay parade (that is held annually). Or Hagee’s opinion that Catholicism is a whore religion and that teachers letting children read Harry Potter are promoting wichcraft. Again McCain has restated twice in recent weeks that he happily accepts this bizarre man’s endorsement. Even after denouncing Jeremiah Wright, if Wright were accused of pulling an “R. Kelly” on a 7 year old child or denouncing Catholicism, Obama 0-8 would be, oh so over. He would be raked over the coals worse than he already has been (if that’s possible). It has gotten so bad for Hillary and McCain that have resolved to flat out saying things like “he’s not like us”. Oh what could they mean by that remark? The scales are so tipped into Clinton and McCain’s favor that even the majority of mainstream media can’t recognize that they have fallen into the racial trap of steadily questioning “can he get the working white class vote”. Why is no one asking if Hillary can get the black vote? With about ten hours until the polls close I hear political pundits on TV saying they’re “still waiting for the Jeremiah Wright boot to drop”, since Wright hasn’t responded to Obama’s “divorcing” from him. How despondent are some members of mainstream media to wait for Obama, who holds the race lead to wait for the man he has formally denounced to speak again? There are like vultures awaiting the death of a thirsty animal crossing the desert.

We’ve been told numerous times that is mathematically impossible for Obama to lose this race and that Hillary has to win 66% of the vote in the remaining states to stay close. Yet, Hillary and her people keep twisting words like Lindsay Lohan’s publicist to make the public believe she still is in this thing. How can she do that? Because she believes that if she has a shot of something and a beer she magically becomes a non-educated, Gran Torino driving, white voter. And with that she implies to some voters through her thinly veiled veneer, “You know he’s black”. She has portrayed herself as a "fighter for the American people", but she has taken advantage of that stance and played on the ignorance of some non-black voters, who would easily react negatively, if Barack responded as a "fighter" as so many white pundits have requested him to do. Barack Obama knows the last thing some middle American or rural white mother needs to see is a man named Barack going off a sixty year old white woman. When it’s all said and done Obama is black, no matter how hard he has tried to get past it. He is reminded of it daily in what should be a very historic presidential race… if only Hillary would let it be that.

GET YOUR FREAK ON AND GET MY VOTE

In the past few weeks, Hillary Clinton has steadily thrown the question of “who do you want answering the White House phone at 3 in the morning?” at Barack Obama. She now has commercials running that evoke images of Osama Bin Laden, 9/11 and Pearl Harbor, while she still asks her “3 in the morning” question and also if Obama is ready to handle situations like this. I know if he can handle it, but I know who I can’t. Hillary Rodham Clinton. This will no doubt sound chauvinist to some readers of the Bastille, but I ask, “If Hillary couldn’t stop Bill Clinton from playing circus freak with a cigar and an intern named Monica, what’s going to make me believe that she can stop a Muslim terrorist, who drops more video clips then a talk show host?” I mean I know you were ducking “sniper fire” and trying to get us all Blue Cross, which I appreciate, but some time in those eight years on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue couldn’t you “whip it on” Bill? I mean the guy is leader of the free world you could’ve given him some on more than just birthdays and the night of state dinners. I’m quite sure you could’ve kept him on the straight and narrow, if you all had got your freak on in the Rose Garden or maybe even the Lincoln bedroom. Think about it Hillary, a little role-playing, you’re the female abolitionist begging President Lincoln to free the slaves and you saying how you will do anything to free the slaves. I’m quite sure there are costumes somewhere in the White House—if not I know you could send out for them. In closing I ask one thing of you, if since sleeping with Bill can’t help you now. Please tell me what YOU can do for this country and not what you think your opponent, cannot do.

CAN YOU DIRECT ME TO THE DEBATE?

Last night, there was a catfight on television, disguised as a Democratic debate. Facilitated by ABC and two of what I had considered to be their better journalists, Charlie Gibson and former Clinton advisor, George Stephanapoulos—at least until last night. In what I thought was supposed to be a two-hour debate about important issues, Gibson and Stephanapoulos grilled Barack Obama on his recent “bitter” remarks towards small town people and the Pastor Jeremiah Wright for the debate’s first forty-five minutes. Hillary Clinton then jumped into the foray, as Bugs Bunny would say, “dog-pile on the rabbit”. Hillary jumped in every time she could to take a dig at Obama by speaking of Pastor Wright’s comments saying, “were unacceptable and are offensive”. She then commented on Barack Obama’s being on a board with a man, who was part of the terrorist group named the Weather Underground. The sad part about Hillary’s attack is that her “razor-sharp, 3-in-the-morning” mind forgot that her own husband Bill Clinton gave a presidential pardon to two members of the Weather Underground. Again this debate was an example of how the Democratic party is blurring the line between themselves and the Republican party by attacking and not talking about the issues. I understand Stephanapoulos’ attacks, though biased and unwarranted, come from his loyalty of being advisor to Hillary’s husband, Slick Willie. It’s sad that neither, Gibson or Stephanapoulos felt a need to speak about the issues that plague and erode at America’s core. We have a steady escalating, 2.2 trillion dollar debt, which has made us “bottom bitch” to our respective “pimps” in China, Dubai and Russia. Our armed services have been overworked in the Iraq and Afghanistan. Our economy flaps back and forth like a freshly caught marlin on the deck of a South Florida trawler. American jobs are outsourced daily to other countries with the frequency of a Bush veto. and let's not forget that both a gallon of gas and a gallon of milk both cost $4-- that's right, a gallon of refined petroleum and cow piss are worth the smae thing. But I guess it’s more important to mold and carve at every, benign, phrase uttered on the campaign trail like a neurosurgeon, then find out how these people will be the best person to lead this country out of it’s present Bush quagmire.

Last night and today TV and radio pundits have spoken of how Obama didn’t do well and should have returned the attacks to Senator Clinton. Those of you, who are black or should I say black and have common sense, because being black doesn’t always assure you common sense, (see Bob “Ni**a Jim” Johnson, Tavis Smiley, I really don’t have enough space or time to continue this list), probably understand that Obama has to be careful in his words when dealing with Hillary Clinton. As progressive as we are in America, we still live in a country, where men are expected to be chivalrous to women and Obama can't afford to be too brash, because bottom line--- drum roll please-- Barack Obama is a black man. Obama may have given a historic speech on American racial matters and may be close to taking the Democratic nomination, but if he even starts to seem like he is attacking, a sixty year old white woman, he goes from “one of the good ones” to being a thuggish-ruggish, ni**er in 3.4 seconds. In the end, if Obama gets the nod at least he’s getting a taste of what the Republicans are going to do to him. Buckle up Barack, it’s about to be a bumpy ride.

BLACK RACE CAN’T AFFORD YOU

To quote Sergeant Waters from the film “A Soldier’s Story", "The black race can’t afford you no more, C.J.". What Sgt. Waters meant by this was that C.J. was such a smiling, cowering, subservient shuffling a**, ni**r, that C.J. and his actions actually held the entire black race from progressing in America. Do you know how much “shucking, jiving and cooning” you have to do to hold back, what today would be over thirty million black people? A whole lot has to be done and this statement is probably and sadly going to be a frequent entry here at the Bastille, because repeatedly and sadly there are black people (or maybe we should call them shameless Negroes), who fill this bill everyday.

The first entry in this shameful category will be “Bob “Ni**a Jim” Johnson, self made black, billionaire and creator of BET, the network that we here at the Bastille believe stands a strong second behind slavery on the list, “Top Ten Things That Have Hurt the Black Race”. Well Ni**a Jim has opened his mouth again. Last time we heard from Ni**a Jim he was referring to to Obama's acknowledged teenage drug use while introducing Clinton at a South Carolina event. He said the Clintons ''have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues -- when Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood; I won't say what he was doing, but he said it in his book -- when they have been involved.'' Well, now Ni**a Jim is commenting on the previous remarks made by former Democrat Vice Presidential nominee, Geraldine Ferrraro. She stepped down last month as an adviser to Clinton amid controversy over comments she made to the Daily Breeze newspaper in Torrance, Calif. ''If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position,'' Ferraro said. ''And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.'' Ni**a Jim has chimed in with this, “What I believe Geraldine Ferraro meant is that if you take a freshman senator from Illinois called ‘Jerry Smith’ and he says, “I’m going to run for president, would he start off with 90 percent of the black vote? And the answer is probably not. Ni**a Jim added, “Geraldine said it right. The problem is Geraldine is white. This campaign has such a hair-trigger on anything racial it is impossible for anybody to say anything.”

Ni**a Jim asks, “If you take a freshman senator from Illinois called ‘Jerry Smith’ and he says, “I’m going to run for president, would he start off with 90 percent of the black vote? And the answer is probably not. But we here at the Bastille ask, “If you take a young, black senator from Illinois called ‘Barack Obama and he said, “I’m going to run for president, would he start off with 90 percent of the white vote? The answer is an emphatic NO, but Barack has worked and earned that white vote— as Bill Clinton went out and earned the black vote in 1992. Ni**a Jim wants to create an atmosphere of “Barack can’t get my vote just because he’s black”, but yet he and a number of others treat Hillary Clinton like the massa’s wife. “Miss Hillary and Massa Bill been so good to me. They gaves me access to other rich white people and they tolds them hows I talks so well and I’se not like those otha ni**as, who want level playing fields and for America to help those Rwanadan ni**as—I mean dey not even from America. Miss Hillary slepts in the same bed with Massa Bill. All that big brain Massa Bill gots, had to rub off on Miss Hillary after eight years in the White House. She’s got to be able to run this country better than that ole’ drug taking, African, Barack Osama.”

Ni**a Jim just needs to admit that he’s been promised something on the back end, if Hillary gets into the White House. He is already a billionaire and at this point I can only assume he longs for more power and not the type of power that he can attain through running his ni**a network. Ni**a Jim had access to the highest to office via Billy Clinton and now he has his eyes on some sort of position in the new Clinton administration (if it happens). His latest Obama attack smells of desperation and desperation is the last refuge of a scoundrel (or a ni**a in this case). So I officially place Bob”Ni**a Jim” Johnson into the category of the Black Race Can’t Afford You No More.

DICK GREGORY FOR PRESIDENT 2008

In recent weeks, since the Barack Obama/Reverend Jeremiah Wright “incident”, the fire in their ire of some Caucasians has been ignited, so to speak. I hear a number of level-headed people saying things like, “I don’t know about Obama now.” I couldn’t understand their feelings, until I recalled the old Native American adage, “Judge no man, until you walk a mile in his moccasins”. So while I have no makeup to pull an "Eddie Murphy", I just thought real hard about why Obama or for that fact, the idea of a black president would scare them.

If blacks were in the majority, that means for over two hundred, thirty-two years black men would have been in charge of America. That means forty-three black men would have held the office of the President of the United States (POTUS).

So here we are in opposite world, where for the first time in U.S. history a white man and a black woman are making a serious run for the office of POTUS. There have been white men and black women, who tried before but never in history has the public responded like this to their candidacies.

I’ve reasoned that the equivalent of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in this world would be former U.S. Senators Carole Mosley Braun and John Edwards. Conservative black people and even the ones to the right and left of “the middle” would question them by saying or thinking things like “they’re smart, educated and have some experience, but are they really ready to run this country? You know, run it like a black man?" The reality of this country’s position on the global front would then sink in and they start thinking “President Jackson (George W. Bush) and Vice President Thomas (Cheney) are slipping. Jesse and Clarence are running the country and economy into the ground. That Braun chick or that Edwards guy can’t do any worse.” Then they look to the remaining black male candidate, the wise, old, Dick Gregory (John McCain) and catch themselves and say, “No. Dick Gregory can fix this quagmire and get America back on track. I know he’s old and recently asked the governor of New Mexico 'how did ABC feel about you running the state and doing your sitcom?', but still, if Dick can just win the election and live through the inauguration, Vice President Larry Elder (Joe Lieberman) can hold things down and make things right.”

So I wrap this up, by saying to those few Caucasian people, who are hesitant about placing a black man, a white woman or anybody other than a white man into the office of the POTUS. If a white woman or black man won this upcoming election, I assure you, that men will not be turned into the indentured servants of women and slavery will not be reinstated. And to those of you, who just can’t grasp this concept, “Gregory/Elder 08!”

OKAY, SO I WASN’T IN THE SH**

I’ve heard some Vietnam vets use the term, “I was in the sh**”. When that term is used, you know these people were in something, so grisly that you do not want reminisce over it, but by making the statement, you know you and the other person have experienced somthing that no one really should. Let me be first to say, “I, Rusty Eagle, was not in the sh**, but I kind ofhave an idea what the sh** is”.

Recently, Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton has been speaking of how she is battled tested. She has cited in different speeches, a specific 1996 trip to Tusla, Bosnia. In the speeches she has spoken of how “they were doing corkscrew maneuvers to land the plane”, “there was supposed to be greeting ceremony at the airport, but as soon as they arrived, they had to duck and run to the car” and this was all due to “sniper fire”. CBS exposed her comments as to not be true with video footage of the trip, where she and Chelsea were doing the obligatory “handshake, smile & photo-op”. Mrs. Clinton responded to this as saying, “I misspoke.”

Misspoke? Again, I must say that I have never been in the sh**, but you would know if you have been in it. In college, my roommate and I were taking his visiting sister, out to dinner in Washington, DC. It was late April and the time was 6:32pm (I know because we were late for our dinner reservations) as we drove down a side street, where a liquor store on the approaching left corner. As we neared the establishment, where a “stop” sign stood, a young, black man in a yellow coat exited the liquor store and began to cross the street. This is a common happening, but what made this unique was how he produced a metal object from his pocket and aimed it back at the liquor store’s entrance. This entrance was exited by a .38 (known previously as the Saturday Night Special) wielding, Asian storeowner, who opened fire on the young man. As surreal as this was I kept moving towards the intersection, until reality struck in and the young man returned fire on the aging store keep. An old-fashioned gunfight then ensued in broad daylight, in the nation’s capital. I told my roommate and his sister to duck, as I placed the car in reverse and sped at least thirty yards to the other end of the block and safety. Once, safe, I looked up to find a bullet had hit my window and left a dime sized, mark. If that gun would have had more firepower, it would have surely struck my neck and I might be talking out the side of my mouth like Vice President Dick “F*** You” Cheney.

My point is, I still recall this incident vividly that happened to me in the mid-90’s and something I will never forget. YOU FORGET what you had for breakfast yesterday. YOU FORGET who won the Heisman Trophy in 2002. YOU FORGET the number to the Italian restaurant you like so much. YOU FORGET, who played pinch-hit for the Diamondbacks in the 4th game of the World Series. YOU FORGET, what level you left your car on. YOU FORGET the name of the water-head boy, who sat in front of you in high school Algebra. But you don’t ever – and I mean EVER forget ducking sniper fire with your only child and running to safety, in war-torn Bosnia. I am one to believe you don’t forget being in the sh** and Mrs. Clinton was in the sh**.

THE NEW MODELS ARE IN

Here is a glass, dirty and its water foul. If you offer it to the people and they have no choice, they must drink out of it. But if they have a choice...

Elijah Muhammad, in the film, Malcolm X

We as human beings and even more as Americans like shiny, new things. For real, we as a people like us some new things with all the bells and whistles. It’s very natural to be drawn to that which is different from the norm, because again we like news things and have a choice. Without choice we must take what we get and be satisfied (or not, it's our CHOICE to be happy).

If you walk onto a car lot daily and there are 200 mint-conditioned, Diesel Mercedes Benzes, as good as these mint-conditioned steel, chariots may be, if a different model is placed on the lot, people are going to give it a look. But if a new, washed and waxed late model anything is on the lot getting it’s shine on, people will give it a serious look, as in the case of this year’s presidential race. After years and years of staring at 43 very similar models (see “white men”), two NEW experimental models have been placed on the lot with hopes that one of them will go into “production” (see "working in the white house") in 2009. And believe me, these models are turning heads. On one platform we have the Hillary Clinton, who is a woman that comes in a pearl white with a belief in universal health care and a husband, who actually held the office for eight years. And in the main showroom is the 08 Barack Obama, in a midnight black with a bright plan for America’s future and the belief that Washington, DC politics can change for the better.

I say this because in this race for the mortgage on the house at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue a lot of the “talking heads” are throwing about the theory “you’re only voting for Clinton because she’s a woman” or “you’re voting for Obama because he’s black”. Well, a lot of people are voting for McCain because he’s white. So people get over it. We as humans usually make decisions on what we see at first and then investigate further. Hence my car lot theory. A number of people are looking to Obama and Clinton because they are the new cars on the lot and most folks like “new extras” (see 'bells & whistles or way of thinking) that they will bring to the White House. McCain on the other hand is that pre-owned, dependable, diesel, automobile, but he’s still got crank windows, no cup holders and no cruise control. Folks respect the ride, but they're looking for what's new, not the same damn car we've been riding in for almost eight years. Now after you test drive the Clinton or the Obama (like most of their supporters did) and you’re still not feeling them, you don’t have to buy it. But if you like it, you have the choice to go with it because you investigated it and not because of some so-called, knee jerk reaction to color or gender. No doubt color and gender have played a part in people’s decision this election a lot, but that is because we haven’t had any other choices throughout history. Since 1789, white men have run this country for 309 years, but suddenly there’s an, uproar because a white woman or a black man thinks they can do it better. After 300 years I'd like to think you guys could give somebody else a shot. In the end, I’m buying me an, 08 model and I’m getting it loaded.
